Artist's Statement

With work exhibited and collected in the U.S., Europe and Asia, Luba Sterlikova has established an international presence for her distinctive botanical images. Her art reflects her cosmopolitan background, incorporating the East’s alluring, vibrant colors and forms and patterns of the West.

Her style offers fresh perspective on the generative powers of nature’s gardens. She has imbued her florals with the romantic and provocative qualities for which blossoms have been recognized and lauded by cultures worldwide. Indian art critic, Keshav Malik, described Luba’s art as ’a juicy genre, as rich as Keats, the poet’s fruity poems’.

An exotic energy pervades all her compositions, demanding attention and holding the viewer in thrall. While frequently compared to the work of Georgia O’Keefe, Luba Sterlikova’s oeuvre exhibits a stylized manner completely Luba’s own and speaks of her fecund artistry.
